In order to promote and facilitate packaging production and design according to the requirements of the market of the European Union, to support the circulation of high-quality packaging in Latvia, and to popularize environmentally friendly packaging, the Packaging Association of Latvia since 1996 organizes a yearly national competition LATVIA STAR – BEST PACKAGING IN LATVIA.
The entries submitted for the competition will be evaluated by a professional jury – packaging experts. In accordance to the evaluation of jury the winner receives the GRAND PRIX prize – opportunity for the company to participate in the prestigious international competition – WORLDSTAR FOR PACKAGING EXCELLENCE, organized by the World Packaging Organization.
In the evaluation of the competition works we have successful cooperation with the students of Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies led by Prof., Dr. sc. ing. S. Muižniece-Brasava;
In order to facilitate the development of the packaging production, to promote the introduction of progressive materials, as well as introduction of the packaging technologies that are friendly to the environment, the category eco packaging will be especially actualized during this competition.
The organizers of the competition reserve the right to invite participants of packaging competitions or packaging manufacturers from other countries to participate in the competition with their works in order to promote the international competitiveness of Latvian packaging of goods.
The standing competition supporters are the Ministry of Climate and Energy of the Republic of Latvia, the Association of Latvian Printing Companies, Latvijas Zaļais punkts (Green Dot Latvia), GS1 Latvija, International Exhibition Company BT 1, the Latvian Packaging Certification Center, Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, Technology and Knowledge Transfer Department, Riga State Technical College a.o. The competition process as well as its results will be revealed in mass media.
The competition is a good possibility to advertise your packaging (and product) in Latvia – competition entries will be exhibited in international exhibition RIGA FOOD’ 2025 (4.-6. IX) in the exhibition center BT 1, in Riga – visitors of the exhibition will evaluate the products. For promoting your products the entries submitted for the competition will be published on the homepage of the Packaging Association of Latvia, www.packaging.lv in order for the consumers to express their opinion in an interactive questionnaire. Also after the competition the works will be viewable on www.packaging.lv.
We invite you to apply for the competition by sending documents electronically to e-mail: info@packaging.lv from July 15, 2025 to September 8, as well as to submit work samples from August 1 to September 8, 2025 to the Latvian Packaging Association (Vienības gatve 11, Riga, Latvia, ph. +37129 126 494).
The competition entries submitted by September 1, 2025, will be exhibited in the stand of the Packaging Association of Latvia in the international exhibition RIGA FOOD 2025 (September 4-6) for the evaluation of the exhibition visitors.
